Admissions
Process
St. John the Baptist welcomes students from all backgrounds, ensuring an inclusive environment that does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, or creed. During open enrollment, priority is given to Catholic applicants, and in cases where space is limited, parish membership may also play a role in the admissions process.
To start the admissions process at St. John the Baptist School we welcome you to schedule a tour and visit our campus. During this time we will guide you through our admissions process and make sure you have all the necessary documents.

Once your application has been received, it will be reviewed. Our office staff will reach out to you to schedule an interview with our principal, Mrs. Ondas. This process is important to us to get to know your family and child.
Please know that these interviews are mandatory and must be completed before you can enroll your student/s.
Further requirements, in addition to those mentioned above, for students aiming to transfer to St. John The Baptist School.

St. John the Baptist welcomes the opportunity to enter an agreement with parents to meet their child’s/children’s spiritual, educational and social needs while enrolled in a school devoted to the work of Catholic education.
As part of this agreement, parents agree to pay the determined fees and tuition. Additionally, we have several scholarship opportunities as well as being a proud Choice Scholarship school

Scholarship Programs
Our mission is to support every family in realizing their aspiration for a Catholic education. We assess eligibility for scholarships and financial assistance through a tailored evaluation of each family's circumstances. Recognizing that every family is different, we are dedicated to collaborating with you to ensure that financial limitations do not hinder access to quality education.
Choice Scholarship
St. John the Baptist School is a proud recipient of the Indiana School Choice Scholarship Program! The recent expansion includes Kindergarten as an eligible grade level and increased the qualifying income levels where now 99% of Northwest Indiana families currently qualify! This means that students who meet our admissions requirements and income guidelines defined by the state may be eligible for a School Choice Scholarship covering full tuition and fees. Choice Scholarships are an income based scholarship that are available to to all Indiana residents that over 60% of our students receive. Families only need to proved their Indiana 1040 tax return, St. John the Baptist School handles the application process for each family. Trojan Scholarship
The Trojan Scholarships are income-based awards available exclusively to families in Illinois who are parishioners of our church. For those interested in becoming parishioners, we will provide guidance on how to proceed. Additionally, families will need to submit their current 1040 tax forms. All applications will be processed through Facts Management. Please ensure your child is enrolled in the school before submitting an application.
Diocese of Gray Grant
The Diocese of Gary Grant is also an income-based awards but is available all parishioner families, including those that do not qualify for the full Choice Scholarship. Additionally, families will need to submit their current 1040 tax forms. All applications will be processed through Facts Management. Please ensure your child is enrolled in the school before submitting an application.
